The Connecticut Wildcats was the first professional soccer team in the state of Connecticut. The franchise was granted to Paulus Ingram in 1972 from the American Soccer League (ASL). The Wildcats was a success story on and off the field, generating record crowds at Dillon Stadium in Hartford, and producing an unprecedented number players that went on to coach at very high levels, including World Cup and Olympic championship teams.
